Spring is here - get your home ready!

It’s the season we’ve all been waiting for - Spring! Most of the cold is behind us, and it’s time to begin spending some time in the sunshine. Take some time to complete the following small tasks at home so you can have a happy, clean spring with your friends and family.

Give your yard some love.

Those winter months can take a toll on your plants and trees. Be sure to go through and remove the dead plants and replant new ones! Get colorful and plant some brightly colored flowers, like tulips and daffodils. There’s nothing better than walking up to a home with bright, fresh flowers in the yard!

Get your grill ready.

What’s better than grilling out on a nice spring night? Your grill has probably collected some dust over the last several months. Help prolong the life of your grill by giving it a good scrub before you start grilling. If you didn’t clean it after your last use, now’s the time! You can also brighten up the grill’s exterior with some glass cleaner. If you don’t have a grill cover… now’s the time to invest! Protecting it from rust can add years to its life.

Check your gutters.

This may not sound like a big deal, but your gutters may have built up tons of gunk that can cause huge problems and leaks later on. Grab a ladder, and start checking your gutters for debris. Don’t forget to wear gloves! After you clean whatever you can with your hands, you can remove anything leftover with a garden hose by shoving it into the downspout. Here’s a good guide.

Get ready for pests.

It’s spring which means blooming flowers and green grass, but with that comes critters and rodents coming to check out the new decor! Don’t forget to use a pesticide around the perimeter of our home to help keep them out.

Don’t forget the basics.

Spring cleaning is a great time to replace all of your filters including water, range hood, and air vent filters. These filters should be replaced every 3-6 months depending on the type of filter you have. Don’t forget to test your smoke alarms and CO detectors and change the batteries when needed. It’s so simple and cheap, but it’s easily forgotten and can save your life!
